Photos of the Unseelie Ellette Flare & Wrap Skirts, Silk Scarf

Photos of the Unseelie Ellette skirts and square scarf are here! Below is the Flare Skirt, made of the stretch Eco-Poly fabric. The print on this came out nicely vibrant.

Unseelie Ellette Flare Skirt, size large

I can never guarantee that what you'll see on your screen is 100% accurate to real life, but I'm trying my best to make sure the photos' colors match what I'm seeing.

The Flare skirt has a more saturated print. I got the large size, though I wonder if I should have gotten the medium as the waistband sometimes kind of floats up when I sit down, but if I did it might be too tight around my hips and butt. Make sure you get the size that will fit your natural waist because this waistband is made for sitting right at the waist and not resting on the hips below it. The waistband is straight up-and-down, and does not have curvature that would make it fit properly on  curvy hips that way.
My waist hovers around 30"-31", just fyi.

Next, is the Unseelie Ellette Wrap Skirt.

Unseelie Ellette Wrap Skirt in Matte Crepe fabric

The wrap skirt I really like because it's so full as well as adjustable, but the two issues I noticed were a less saturated print on the matte crepe fabric, and it had quite a bit of static cling.  I was wearing nylons, so that may have done it. Now I wonder if perhaps the peachskin jersey wouldn't have that problem so that will be the next sample I order.
There are ways to deal with static, so it's not the end of the world, and there is a good amount of the print that shows through the back as well so that’s a bonus that makes up a bit for the less saturated printing.

The below photo shows the matte crepe wrap skirt draped on top, with the flare skirt on bottom so you can see the comparison in print quality and colors.

I also discovered a few other ways to wear the wrap skirts!

Unseelie Ellette Wrap Skirt - worn as an asymmetrical dress

It would work best on small people (my mannequin is a size 4-6) and I wouldn't trust wearing it without anything underneath, but for beach or festival wear it could come in handy as a last-minute fairy dress if you need one.

Last but not least is the Unseelie Ellette 26” x 26” square scarf in silk habotai. You can see the print on the silk has a much warmer tone to it.

The print quality is great but it will be a little darker and warmer, yet more saturation than the matte crepe - at least, more than the crepe used on the skirts. I am not sure if the scarves are made with that same fabric or not. Below you can see how well the print shows through the back on the silk, as well as a comparison photo showing the silk scarf on top of the matte crepe wrap skirt.

I hope this helps you decide! I may be moving these items over into my Shopify or Etsy store before long, and when I do there may be a slight pricing increase.

Real Life Samples of the Colette Pixish Long Scarves

My Art of Where samples came in, and I got to model the scarves yesterday so you can see what they really look like printed - spoiler alert, they look great!

I can't decide which one should be the main product photo though, which is your fave?

The long scarf is the silk option, which has wonderful show through of the print on the opposite side. The color is slightly warmer and darker or duller than the polyester satin charmeuse fabric is, but it's not a drastic difference. The shorter one is the polyester chiffon, which prints a bit brighter and cooler, but very transparent as that's what makes it chiffon.

Below you can see some of the fabric options and how much you can see the print in back. The chiffon and silk habotai show the print on both sides best, but the satin charmeuse is really beautiful with more accurate colors & crisp print quality, almost feels like the silk and drapes really well with a satiny finish.
The matte crepe looks great too, but not really shiny. To the eye it almost looks the same as the satin charmeuse, at least with the Colette print - the matte crepe of the Unseelie Ellette skirt looked more dull than the eco poly fabrics of the same design, so I don’t know if the matte crepe used for the skirts is different or if there is something about those colors that don’t like the crepe.
I’ll either update this blog with those photos or make a new one for the Ellette items.

I have a lot more to crop and edit, including the skirts and leggings, much more to come!
The POD items such as these *might* be moved to my Etsy or Shopify store once I have the new photos done, if I can find out if it will make a difference with my tax bracket. If it won't hurt me that way then I may do that and close the AOW store, and make a slight price increase since I'd be handling more customer service that way. So if you have been meaning to get something from there you may want to do so before that happens if you want to pay a bit less.

Photos of me taken by Jordan Price for Fancy Fairy Wings & Things.
Photo retouching and color correction by me. Editing was done very minimally but for transparency's sake I did edit out my eyebags so I don't look so tired, and fixed a crooked lip position in just a couple of these.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I didn’t have a chance to make any valentine themed wing stuff this year, so here’s a small collection of pink & red wings I’ve made in the past.

Aynia Valentine fairy wings

Who here is into red & pink no matter what day of the year it is? Should I make some more in these colors anyway? Sound off in the comments, and I hope whatever you’re doing, there is some love in your day <3
Be your own valentine if you don’t have one, until someone comes along who is worthy of your fabulousness. Treat yo’ self!

Signs of Spring

The Green Fairy gets gilded for Candlemas!

Datura fairy wing design done in a green fairy palette on the Patina Green film with candy coat gold veins and variegated metal foil on the tips, embellished with Swarovski crystals.

I originally made these steampunk green fairy / absinthe themed wings for myself and wore them just once to the Edwardian Ball just a week ago attached to the flapping wing mechanism.
I’ve decided to let them go however, as I have my tooth extraction surgery coming up this week and money is more practical right now than another set of wings.
Not only am I offering the wings, I’m throwing in the corset too! The corset was not made by me, it was made for me by Melody BB Corsetry back in 2012. I only got to wear it a couple times unfortunately, and since it was made during a time when I was stressed, off of some needed meds and going through some health stuff it was made during a time when I had lost more weight than normal.
Needless to say, I’ve definitely gained it back and I don’t foresee it leaving my body enough to fit into this thing anymore. It’s better off being enjoyed than sitting in my closet forever.

The waist is roughly 24 inches, I think the bust should fit someone with a 36B size. It comes with matching shoulder straps that I had just pinned on, you can see them still attached in the photo below that shows the inside - oh did I mention it’s reversible?! That’s right, the other side is a watercolor purple look and that is the side the busk shows in. I had wanted the green side to have an invisible busk, which I wish more corset makers would offer! So this is really a special one.
Below you can also see a couple photos of me wearing the corset in 2012, and the extra clips that I was wearing back then as well, one on the corset at the hip and one in my hair. They both now have hair clip attachments in back but could still be clipped or pinned to the corset. I can throw those in too.

It could probably use a dry cleaning, there’s a bit of deodorant mark near the armpits that I think will come off. I’m sorry but if I waited for myself to take it to the cleaners it would probably be another year before I got around to it, it just needs to go.

I want to make a donation to a non-profit that’s helping the wildlife in Australia to recover from the bush fires from a percentage of the sale of this set and am seeking out the best one to give to.
I usually sell the gilded and bejeweled wings between $500 - $600 and these will come with the green / purple reversible corset & the two little flower pins shown at the hips as well as the larger hair clips.

I’m trying something different for this set, instead of listing it to my Shopify store I’m going to ask that those interested email me with an offer and I can then send a Shopify invoice to the buyer.

Fairy Wings Are Here Again!

Flash sale tomorrow, Friday Jan. 30 2020 at 9pm PST! 2 sets of these Aynia wings in Ultraviolet with gold veins will be available, as well as a couple Trinkets, and maybe more but I’m still working on more behind the scenes as well.

I’ll also have 2 sets of Trinkets, and possibly another design if I can manage it.
Sorry fairies, this was supposed to be done earlier but this winter has been a b**h and I guess a cold wasn’t enough for this body this week, so, probably another trip to the pharmacy in the next day or two.
I also am supposed to have my tooth extraction surgery in a week! o.O
Remember, my Patrons on Patreon get the earlybird peeks at what’s coming, and right after them is the VIP Fancy Fairies mailing list on this page.
I’ve been so quiet because there are multiple things I’m trying to get done for you at the same time and it’s overwhelming, but I hope you’ll enjoy what’s on the way.

Patreon Membership Payment Change

Important announcement for Patreon subscribers!

I've just changed my creation payment type to monthly rather than per-creation, due to the inability to prevent patrons from joining to grab all the content and then leaving without paying a dime for anyone who does not have monthly and 'charge up front' selected.
I'm sorry to change the subscription type on everyone, but I had no idea how unprotected my content was until a recent forum post.
Since I have so many IP issues already, I could not afford to wait to make the change. Those of you who already subscribed will simply be charged on the 1st of the month as you have been, and new people joining will be charged right when they join and then per month after.
Thank you for understanding and have a fairytastic weekend!

New Fancy Fairy Leggings, Skirts and Scarves!

A small collection of apparel & scarves / fabric is now available in my shop, all featuring my original fairy wing designs!

You can find the whole collection here: https://fancy-fairy-wings-things.myshopify.com/collections/art-of-where-collection
*As of 7:45pm on Jan.11 I’m currently having problems with the Shopify integration when it comes to shipping for Art of Where products, I’m so sorry! For now, you can still find the collection in the Art of Where marketplace store here: https://artofwhere.com/artists/fancyfairywingsandthings

Please note that these are showing digital mockups, not actual finished physical product so color might vary slightly from what you see on your screen.

I did order samples but they won't be here for at least a week and a half, however I've had Art of Where highly recommended. I've also seen their stuff in person & the quality seemed great!

This is just the beginning, as there are many more items I plan to add designs to as well as lots more wing designs to be added. But now I need to get back to finishing some wings and special orders after spending most of last week figuring this all out.
I am still in the process of making leggings and flare skirts for plus sizes, as I have to use a different vendor that offers them - however I’ve heard Art of Where will be adding plus sizing this year as well.

So go ahead, and be a little fae everyday :)

New Fairy Wing Themed Apparel Coming Soon!

How would you like to add Fancy Fairy wing designs to your daily wear?
That will very soon be possible, as I am going to be using Art of Where to produce skirts, leggings, and other items printed with my original wing designs!

All I need now is to decide if I will be using the raw digital painting files (left), or the finished iridescent wing photos (right) in the products.
